To give the Cadets a basic knowledge of how electric motors work, since they are used in so many things today.

Motor materials:

One “D” cell battery

Two large paper clips (or two laser cut cradles).

Three feet of motor winding wire (also called magnet wire); 20 AWG works well. Part #101-751 at www.parts-express.com

One ceramic magnet; 5-6 lbs of pull works well. Part #5738K31 at www.mcmaster.com .

One rubber band (or more if they break!).
