Landmarks

The Cadet and counselor landmarks are the guideposts in the adventure called cadeting. The landmarks are something every Cadet and counselor must memorize and understand so that they will discover how the Lord is at work in their lives. They include understanding the meaning of the Cadet emblem and memorizing the verse, hymn, pledge, motto, code, and mission statement (counselors only).

At the opening of a Cadet meeting, the head counselor should ask for a response to these statements: Cadets and counselors, what is your verse? (verse recited); What is your pledge? (pledge recited); What is your motto? (motto recited); What is your code? (code recited); And counselors, what is your mission statement? (mission statement recited by the counselors) and then the Cadet Hymn should be sung by everyone. If you want the complete recommendations for opening exercises and other key counselor information — download the “Gold Sheet.”

Emblem

The three Cs in the center of the shield have special meaning. Not only do they represent The Calvinist Cadet Corps name … they form a cross. This reminds us of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins.

Verse

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” John 14:15

Hymn: Living for Jesus

Living for Jesus a life that is true, Striving to please Him in all that I do; Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free, This is the pathway of blessing for me. O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee, For Thou, in Thy atonement, Didst give Thyself for me; I own no other Master, My heart shall be Thy throne; My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ for Thee alone.

Pledge

Thankful to God for His gifts to me, I pledge myself to be ready to serve God, my parents, my country, my church, my neighbor, and my Corps.

Motto

Living for Jesus

Code

A Cadet must be reverent, obedient, compassionate, consecrated, trustworthy, pure, grateful, loyal, industrious, and cheerful.
